Starting december 2011, the alumnus of xinmin band gathered on Friday nights from 8-11pm to put together 3 pieces of music for a performance. This time, i was finally part of it! Not as the audience, but a performer!

As per tradition, the alumni section is always placed after the intermission. Our repertoire was as follows:

American Civil War Fantasy
遙か
Old Scottish Melody (Auld Lang Syne)

Our short performance ended with the last piece dedicated in fond remembrance of our late band member, Junsheng. Unanimously, last night’s delivery of this special piece was the best that hadn’t been achieved in any of our rehearsals. Real feelings poured into our instruments on stage blended with the music to produce a melody that touched everyone’s hearts.

Your life was a melody, music to ours.

Of course, not forgetting so, thanks to those who came specially to support me! My good friends, juniors, and especially to the group of friends whom i haven’t met but you guys moved me with your unrelenting support. Some of you don’t even know me, but still came, though i think the ticket price is a little expensive.. Cindy Ee 姑姑, i know you were there in the audience last night but i didnt get to meet you, i hope you enjoyed the performance! see you soon for dinner!

You were the motivation to my participation in this concert.

Your presence had been felt, i hope you enjoyed yourself, korkor :)

Although this marks our first gathering every year, today was just a little more special. So much for 21st being the big thing in Singapore, it seemed ritualistic but everyone’s doing it. Parties, chalets, everything you could have imagined. Today’s small gathering with close ones was what i will do, when my time comes. No big whoo-hahs.. Alright, what happened just now..

First leading the group, it’s a 21st celebration for Sandra!! (2 days in advance..) We met at Bras Basah complex to get her art materials (which is her present~), and i got lost! >< took me so long to get there~ sighh, legendary 路痴.. i can never find my way! :(( that was just a bad start of the day.. for me at least. Finding our dinner place was the next boggling task! Every place that sandra brainstormed and wana intro to us, its either closed or gone for good :((

皇天不负有心人, we settled at an italian pasta restaurant~ poor cassie added too much salt to her food cos she mistook it for cheese..and ended up forfeiting the entire dish. You hungry not!! :((

and OMG, i have to blog about this.. our dear friend dropped her phone right smack in the middle of the road while crossing the street and was screaming hysterically on the other side while we were all grasping our hearts, hoping she won’t run back out to get it, cos cars are zooming past! Lucky and unlucky at the same time, the phone escaped tyres within minuscule distance, but it still didnt survive the fall from steph’s pocket. :((

Despite what happened, we still ended our day good :) with the same usual laughters, over past memories and sharings. As life goes, everyday can’t be a good day. Today was just a perfect testament for that.

Through good and bad times, its the friendship that pulls through.

A reunion across borders.

On chinese new year’s eve, we had a little change this year. Reunion was lunch, instead of dinner! A change of routine.. Well, change is just the only constant in life.

Finally, i can have something happy to share!

Yesterday, after a small reunion lunch with my good friends, i went to meet some very special people. People who hear this might think i’m crazyy to go meet those strangers whom i haven’t even met before. But you guys have missed out on this unique friendship we’ve forged, having spent 8 months into an iPhone online game.

To be honest, its taking me some difficulty to write about our gathering yesterday. To express the kind of feeling was way beyond words.

After our first xmas present exchange via airmail between Singapore and Hongkong, it was like a dream come true when we finally met each other yesterday! Pardon the exaggerated expression, but i was really really happy! Another friend from malaysia also gave me a pleasant surprise by suddenly popping over to sg early in the morning and dropping me an anonymous funny text. I met some new people from the game too!

To sum it up, yesterday was our official reunion.

There’s something very special about our friendship.

When your really happy, you know you are, cos you just can’t stop thinking about it.

Humans are greedy, once is always not enough, and i’m already wanting to meet u all again.

What a semester this gonna be.

Third day into school, i had a taste of all my five modules. Three cores, one compulsory singapore studies, and one rubbish. Even cores are so boring this time round. I’m gonna need some extra determination and hardwork to make things work..

Focus, whilst mentally drained.

And its always on these nights, when the mind gets so tired, it resides in quiet moments that often only encompass memories.

Inevitably, the feeling of missing someone gets so unbearable.

I’m so tired.

11th day of the new year, let me enjoy the days. :)

A close shave.

Just tonight, while I was getting pepper lunch at nex, the hot plate flew at me and within seconds i had smoke up to my neck before stepping aside after moments of shock. Looking up from my phone after reading an sms before i even had the chance to reply, the plate slipped from the vendor’s hands and i jumped. PHew.

What a close shave.

But one of my toe still touched the hot plate, with a bit of the nail chipped off.
Hot arh!
200 degrees, probably my nail melted away! D:

Is this yet another reminder for me regarding whats in the sms.. A bad sign. Not being superstitious, but using occasional coincidences as signs to lead me in a direction thats better for me.

As my new year resolution states: Be happy.

A ten-year affair.

Tonight, i had a night out with 2 of my primary school best mates! We had a nice dinner at Laselle’s 15 Minutes cafe and sat at the grass patch for a quick catch up on our lives. In the blink of our eyes, 10 years have passed in the making of our friendship and we could see it going strong! It wasn’t an easy path but I was glad that we kept in touch since the day our paths crossed as classmates.

10 years old, thats when our innocent little minds first learnt about each other. As the years go by, though we were separated by classes, ccas, or even schools, we kept each other intertwined with the interesting contributions on our own unique experiences from wherever we were.

To Tingyin:
Heyy its been 10 years but our little michief acts are still so vivid in my mind. Though we don’t text or talk to each other every day, or even meet up only once a year, i’m so thankful for our friendship going thus far. I have confidence of it going on and on and on and.. till the promise we made before our p6 graduation. :)

To Geraldine:
Whenever i think back, its hard to believe how close we’d grown to be. We were neither in each other’s cliques, nor hanging out with common friends all the time; was band so powerful in tying up a friendship bond? We were just in the same clarinet section for 4 years. Looking forward to living more beautiful memories with you. :)

A very sincere thank you to the both of you for the very sweet birthday card and dinner treat!

After a long tiring birthday out, on my way back home, my best buddy texted and she went: SEE THE MOON! ECLIPSE!! well, i was in the train then. I thought, what a pity if i missed seeing the eclipse, but hey! when i’m out, its still there!! It was a total lunar eclipse :)

Because it fell on my birthday, i wiki-ed about eclipses for the first time.. A lunar eclipse lasts for several hours, and it occurs when Earth is directly in between the moon and the sun..

I wished you could have seen it too~

Yesterday, i hit the big two! Thats not exactly a new phase of my life yet, not until twenty-one. But it still felt special. :) While all my other friends are starting to think about their 21st bash, i just had a day with the “2″. Just like on this day in 1991, while most of my friends are babbling words or even starting to crawl, i just seen the world for the first time.

This year was another quiet birthday spent with my family.

Special thanks to all who wished me again! Whether its through facebook, face-to-face, or smses.. i’ve been loved and i love youu all! Especially my itouch game friends, you lovely people made me smile the widest at 1+am, till i felt there was a tear right at the corner of my eye :) and of course, to the several special people who wished me as i’d hoped for, you’d just made 10 december the best day of the year.

Each year, a birthday is like flipping a page of the book of life. A step into a brand new year of life leaves the previous etched in memory.

Till the next december 10th.
